Solvent Free Gripfill - 350ml
Gripfill™ Solvent Free is a white, solvent free gap filling adhesive that creates a high strength bond between two materials. Gripfill Solvent Free provides an instant grab, immediately securing materials in place for accurate bonding. Gap filling properties mean uneven surfaces can be bonded without difficulty. Gripfill™ Solvent Free has been developed specifically for interior use and is ideal for decorating, refurbishment, building and DIY applications. It may also be used externally in some circumstances provided that the bond remains dry. If in doubt contact Laybond Technical Services Department. Gripfill™ Solvent Free is easy to use and mistakes can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth. It dries white and can be sanded and overpainted.
Materials that can be bonded:
Wood, plasterboard, MDF, hardboard, ceramics, glass, metal, cork, laminates, uPVC, brick, breeze block, concrete, most plastics etc. At least one surface should be porous. Especially suitable for bonding substrates that are sensitive to solvents such as expanded polystyrene, foamed and laminated PVCs.
USES
Expanded polystyrene mouldings, covings, architraves, skirting boards, picture/dado rails, decorative wall panels, shelves, window frames and sills, carpet grippers, covings, work tops.
PREPARATION
Surfaces must be clean, dry and free from loose material. Very porous materials such as plaster and fibre cement board should be primed with a suitable PVA primer such as Gripfill™ Universal PVA diluted 1:5 with water allowing it to dry prior to application of Gripfill™ Solvent Free.
APPLICATION
Cut off the plastic tube end just above the thread, remove the nozzle fixed to the tube and screw into place. Cut the nozzle at an angle to provide the size of the bead required. Fit into cartridge gun and squeeze trigger to apply. Apply Gripfill™ Solvent Free using a cartridge gun. For long items such as dado rails or skirting boards apply a continuous bead in a zig-zag along the length of the item to be fixed. For larger surface areas such as work- tops, apply a continual bead around the perimeter approximately 1cm from the side, and at 30cm intervals across the panel. Position the materials to be bonded, press firmly together and apply pressure to ensure good overall contact. When applying heavier items such as coving to a vertical surface, it may be necessary to offer temporary support either by underpinning or propping in place. Once the adhesive is cured the support will no longer be necessary. When applying lighter weight items such as decorative mouldings to vertical surfaces support generally will not be necessary due to the excellent suction properties of Gripfill™ Solvent Free.
If using for heavy items such as wall panels, Gripfill™ Solvent Free should be applied all the way around each panel approximately 25mm from the edge. Additional beads must be 450 - 600mm apart. Panels of this nature should be
positioned slightly above the final position and slid into place, while applying
pressure to ensure the bond is not broken. Any adjustments to the final position of the
material being bonded must be done within 5 minutes of placing. Gripfill™ Solvent Free will form a surface skin quickly and materials should be bonded as soon as possible after the adhesive has been extruded. Simply wipe away excess adhesive with a damp cloth. Once the bond has been made, leave to dry for 24 hours.
SAFE HANDLING PRECAUTIONS
Flammability: Non Flammable
Skin Contact: Occasional contact is unlikely to have an adverse effect except on particularly sensitive skin. As a general precaution avoid repeated or prolonged contact. Remove skin contamination when wet with water. Use proprietary hand cleaner if the product has dried.
Eye Contact: Although no serious problems are likely to be caused, eyes are a sensitive area and contact should be avoided. In the event of accidental contact, irrigate immediately with plenty of cold, clean water and seek medical attention.
Inhalation: No major hazard, nevertheless use in a well ventilated area. In the unlikely event of discomfort as a result of inhalation, remove the person to fresh air and seek medical attention. Oral Ingestion: Do not ingest. With proper handling this should not occur. The possibility can be minimised by not consuming food in the working area and by washing hands thoroughly before eating, drinking or smoking
